A toddler is being airlifted to hospital after a woman and group of small children were struck by a vehicle in Oshawa, police say.

The collision happened in the area of Ryerson Crescent and Sheridan Street just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A toddler-aged girl was rushed to hospital with critical injuries before being airlifted to SickKids. Another child was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver involved remained on the scene.

Police say it’s unclear the relationship between the woman and children and how many children were present, but only two required medical attention.

Drivers are being asked to use an alternate route.
